Winners of the 2009 Oklahoma Press Association Better Newspaper Contest were announced Friday, Feb. 5th, 2009.
The Oklahoma Neighbor Newspaper’s Group received 10 first place awards, combined with 48 second through 4th place awards. The highest honor in the annual contest is known as the Sequoyah award, this award is based on total points accumulated in all events. The Owasso Reporter finished a very close second for the Sequoyah Award in their circulation category. The Coweta American and The Broken Arrow Ledger finished 3rd in the Sequoyah competition in their respective categories.
